Havana is a city that always make an effort to offer the visitor its best face, a renew and radiant face. And that's what the constructive works on its streets make pretty obvious as you go round. Thus, on the Prado Promenade, there is intensive work in the construction of the Prado and Malecon, Regis, and Packard hotels. Three 5-star hotels of high standard that you may enjoy, as a gorgeous choice when you visit the island.

The Packard, a place with history

The Packard Hotel is being built in the block surrounded by Prado, Carcel, Morro and Genios streets. From 1824, Don Manuel Pastor, a Spanish military ingeneer, got a license in order to build a masonry house on this lot. From the already far-off 1895, that property was devoted to renting, since it was acquired by Luis Lopez Ulloa.

Sixteen years later, in 1911, a hotel with the name "Biscuit" is built in this place, and from 1931 on, after the re-opening followed by some repairs, it changed its name to Packard Hotel.

The Packard, that must be inaugurated in 2018, shows the façade of that ancient hotel in such a way that it integrates harmoniously with the architecture of the area and the typical magic while walking around a city that preserves its charm from other epochs, although modern at the same time.

Apart from all that, let's state that the Packard will be a few steps from the San Salvador de la Punta Castle, the monument to the eight medical students, the monument to Maximo Gomez, and the "parque de la carcel" (the prison park) or lovers' park where there are still remains of the prison where the apostle, Jose Marti was imprisoned with only 16 years.

Besides, blocks away, you will find the Parque Central (Central Square), the Capitol, the Obispo boulevard and the Floridita. If we add to this that its rooms will have an overlook towards the city and the bay, then you'll agree with me that the Packard Hotel will be an option that you can't miss.

Looking ahead

The Packard Hotel is depicted by the transparency of its facade, placing it in a permanent visual relation with the urban atmosphere of the city. It will have ten floors and a semi-underground level and a flat cover and it will offer 321 rooms from standard until 3 types of suites, 4 luxury mini-suites and 9 suites on the corner.

The 0 level (ground floor) will be accessible from the Prado Promenade and the Carcel and Genios streets. It will have a lobby, a cigar bar, a tapas bar, a gourmet restaurant, a store, a piano bar, multipurpose rooms, and several sub-system of services. Also having a yard and public and service elevators, as well as many stairs in case of evacuation.

The 1st level will be like a double prop from the 0 level with areas for equipment.

The 6th level is a volumetric transition among the inferior levels, sharing the historical wall preserved from the ancient hotel, and the superior levels. Here, we find the limitless edge pool looking north, the terrace, the snack bar, the gym and the rooms' area.

The four upper/superior levels are completely dedicated to rooms which, as we said before, lookout the north of the bay and the sea / has an enjoyable view pointing – closing with the Morro Castle, a sumptuous view – and to the south and west above the city. The top/last level, with a group of rooms forming the royal floor, has a VIP reception.

The Regis, a harmonious transition between what's ancient and what's modern

On the popular corner of Prado and Colon you may enjoy from the services of the Regis Hotel which will have a category of a Boutique Hotel, very appropriate for the area where it is located and the features of the building.

The Regis, that gives a contemporary view to the current building, will have 61 rooms, highlighting among them, the Pent-House Suite and five suites. It will also have 50 standard rooms and 5 standard rooms with terrace distributed among the 6 rooms' levels.

The yards have been included in its design, so that they favor the use of natural light, what will convey an additional charm to many of its areas.

Prado and Malecon like a ship heading the bay

Moreover, the Prado and Malecon Hotel will put at the tourist disposal 250 rooms. According to its name, it will be located very close to Havana's Malecon, right in the intersection of Paseo and Prado. What has been stated is a perfect choice for the Malecon and it gives the hotel great prominence in the urban area.

The triangle formed by the centric intersection, also reaching San Lazaro street, gives the hotel like a prow image that seems to be talking to the entrance of the bay, the design of the fortifications and the lighthouse which represent the entrance. Those coming aboard this great ship will have an excellent view pointing the ocean from their continuous balconies and upper bridges.
